Noah a Preacher of Righteousness

Dear Readers,

     Did you know that the Bible says Noah was a preacher of righteousness? Many people even Christians are unaware of this. Most just remember Him as the guy who built the ark and him and his family was spared. The Bible says that 8 were spared Noah, his wife, his three sons, and his sons wives. However this is not all the Bible has to say about Noah. I want to share something with you that hopefully will encourage you today. I know that many times you preach and preach and preach and more often than not you fail to see results. This is not because of your lack of effort but more often than not the peoples hearts you are preaching too are just wicked. The Bible says in the last days it will be just like the days of Noah. Very few Christians or servants of God while the whole world lies in wickedness.
     It appears in the Bible that Noah was 500 years old when God told him he was going to flood the entire earth and to begin to build the ark. 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
When God brought the flood Noah was 600 years old. So many people believe that for 100 years Noah warned the entire world of what was to come. He probably said the only way to safety was the ark and for people to help him build the ark so that they could escape the wrath of the flood. Isn't it peculiar the only ones that listened were Noah's family. Everyone else ignored this preacher of righteousness.
     This is a very scary thought but very true in our time today. There are many false prophets out there who don't warn of the dangers of sin and preach a jesus who does not save from sin. Finding preachers of righteousness and holiness who preach the true Jesus is very rare. What we have to do as Christians is continue to warn people of the wrath to come, the dangers of sin, and show them the way to salvation. We have to do this all the way up to the end. Join with me. Don't stop warning and revealing Jesus to the world. We will one day receive our reward of eternal life with our maker Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,
James

  1. Did you notice that in Hebrews 11:7, Noah inherited/partook/obtained righteousness by faith? I am still praying to God to open up my eyes of understanding regarding how Noah was righteous and perfect in his generation (Genesis 6:9) and later considered righteous by God (Genesis 7:1). Are the two verses talking of the same thing or showing different kinds of righteousness one before men and another before God?

    Thank you for the article.

  2. Same thing. Remember the only righteousness that matters is that we are righteous before God. If he considers us righteous it does not matter what men think. We now obtain righteousness through our faith in Christ Jesus alone. We trust in Him 100% and God considers this worthy. Jesus helps us overcome sin and we can rest in him.

  3. The NRSV says "herald", not preacher. The difference is there, but subtle. That would make Noah a signpost, not a preacher. Inactive, not active.
